UPDATE: Vehicle fire causes mess on I-75

FLINT TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Road conditions are picking back up after a vehicle fire brought traffic to a near standstill on I-75. 

MDOT reports the the incident happened about 10:18 a.m. in Flint Township. 

Police had the center and right lane of southbound US-23/I-75 after Bristol Road (Exit 116) closed near Oakridge Drive. Officials report they were currently clearing the scene, but traffic is slow in the area. 

The Genesee County Communications Center reported a tow truck was hauling a waste management vehicle when a tire fell off the truck and made a large "groove" in the roadway. Debris is also littering the interstate. 

No injuries have been reported at this time.
