FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The Turkey Warriors were at it again to help put meals on the table for Mid-Michigan families this Thanksgiving.

The holidays mean relaxing, family time and great food. However, for some it's a time of struggle to make a good Thanksgiving for their family, which is exactly what the Turkey Warriors want to help give them.

For Bonita Thomas, this Thanksgiving dinner almost didn't happen.

"But you never think you might be the one who would need to get help," Thomas said.

Thomas is disabled and not able to work right now. With limited funds, she said that would have been a year without a turkey feast on her table. That is until she heard about the Turkey Warriors.

Bob Ranville and the other warriors gave away 445 meals this year to families who otherwise wouldn't have had a Thanksgiving dinner.

"It's just a blessing to know you have something of your own on the table. It's nice to spend time with family and friends that care about you," Thomas said.

She said she's looking forward to making the meal with her daughters.

"I always do the hard part so she doesn't have to do it," said Victoria Shannon, daughter.

As they go around the table on Thanksgiving saying what each person is thankful for, the feast from the Turkey Warriors is at the top of the list.

"And whether we'd have food or not, we know it would have been a blessed day. The Lord has a plan and his will will be done," Thomas said.

Ranville said last year he gave away 134 meals, but thanks to extra donations and help from his warriors they were able to do that much in about a day.
