Authorities have a warning for several girls they say egged homes and vehicle throughout a Mid-Michigan city: You made several mistakes.

On Monday, Nov. 21 about 10 p.m. the Imlay City Police Department received several complaints about eggs being thrown at home and vehicles throughout the city.

Officers responded to several of the calls but were unable to locate the suspects.

Over the next few days, the department was able to gather information on the girls involved in the eggings. Four young ladies have now come forward and admitted their involvement, or have been identified by police.

Sgt. Tim Wolford said the girls made several mistakes.

“The first mistake was purchasing the three, 36 packs of eggs at Kroger in Imlay City, the same town that they planned on causing havoc,” Wolford posted on Facebook.

He said the girls also used a Kroger plus loyalty card when they made the purchase through the self-checkout lane at 9:46 p.m.

“The third mistake they made was forgetting that Kroger has one of the most sophisticated high-tech surveillance systems around,” Wolford said.

Since the young women have come forward and taken responsibility for their actions, police said it appears prosecution will be avoided at the victim's request.
