High wind warning for Mackinac Bridge

STRAITS OF MACKINAC (WNEM) -

A high wind warning was issued Friday for the Mackinac Bridge. 

“Currently we are experiencing winds of sufficient force in the Straits area to issue a warning to all motorists preparing to cross the Mackinac Bridge.,” a release said.

Officials are also warning the bridge may be icy. 

Pickup trucks with campers, motor homes, vehicles pulling trailers and enclosed semi-truck trailers are most vulnerable during high winds.

Drivers should use caution and reduce their speed to a maximum of 20 mph. They should also turn on their four-way flashers and use the outside lane.
