CLAYTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Police in one Genesee County community are warning residents of a man going door to door soliciting meal sales from a van.

The incident happened on Monday in Clayton Township.

An unknown male, about 30-years-old, went to a home on the 10,000 block of Potter Road. He requested the homeowner to leave the house and view the meat, which he said he kept in a large cooler in the minivan, the Clayton Township Police said.

The homeowner refused and closed the door. The man then went back to the van and left the area, police said.

Door to door solicitors must register in Clayton Township in order to sell items to residents.

Police said if a similar incident happens you should request to see a menu or a list of items being sold. If the seller makes a weird request or makes you uncomfortable you should shut your door and call 911, police said.
