Police arrest 3 men on child porn charges

Three men have been arrested in unrelated cases of child pornography.

The first case involves a Saginaw Township man. Michael Garner, 46, was accused of distributing sexually explicit materials to a minor, production of child sexually abusive materials, possession of child sexually abusive materials and use of a computer to commit a crime.

A Grand Blanc Township mother told police she saw suspicious messages on her stepdaughter's Facebook account so she reported it to police.

The investigation revealed images and videos of Garner, who was known to the family, police said.

He has been charged with 10 counts of use of a computer to commit a crime, six counts of distributing explicit materials to a minor, one count of production of child sexually abusive materials and three counts of possession of child sexually abusive materials.

Garner was arraigned on Dec. 1.

Garner was a reserve Saginaw County Sheriff's Office dive team member, but was terminated after the results of the investigation were released.

The second case involves Gary Kranzo, of Vienna Township.

The 35-year-old was arrested for distribution and possession of child sexually abusive materials and use of a computer to commit a crime.

Twitter, Inc. reported Kranzo to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The company said he was using his account to distribute child porn, police said.

He has been charged with five counts of distribution of child sexually abusive materials, six counts of possession of child sexually abusive materials and 11 counts of use of a computer to commit a crime.

Kranzo was arraigned on Nov. 30.

The third case involves Paul Poppenfuse, of Forest Township.

The 43-year-old was arrested for possession of child sexually abusive materials and use of a computer to commit a crime.

A local internet company technician observed suspicious images on the suspect's computer and reported it to the NCMEC, police said.

Poppenfuse has been charged with nine counts of possession of child sexually abusive materials and nine counts of use of a computer to commit a crime.

He was arraigned on Nov. 30.
