LANSING, MI (WNEM) -

The presidential recount proposed by Green Party candidate Jill Stein is now on hold in the state of Michigan.

President-elect Donald Trump filed an objection Thursday to Stein's request to force the state to hand count nearly five million ballots cast in the presidential election.

Stein responded to the objection, calling it a "shameful and outrageous attempt to undermine Democracy.”

The recount was originally scheduled to begin Friday in several precincts across the state but is now delayed until the State Board of Canvassers can draw a conclusion on Trump's objection.

The discussion on the objection begins this morning in Lansing.
