GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

A little before 11:30 p.m. Friday, police announced a suspect is in custody. Around 1 a.m. Saturday, Grand Blanc Township police released more details of what happened.

Grand Blanc Township police say they were dispatched at 7:12 p.m. to the 3000 block of Sloan Heights for a shooting.

When officers arrived, they say they found a female outside the home with a gunshot wound to her shoulder area. Upon investigation, they discovered the victim was shot inside. The victim was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police found out a woman fired several shots inside the home which caused those inside to run outside. They say the woman chased them outside, fired more shots and then barricaded herself inside the home.

The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team helped coax the suspect out. She was then taken to the Genesee County Jail.

The Grand Blanc Police Department, Burton Police Department, Genesee County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police helped the Grand Blanc Township Police Department with the situation.

Here is the release on the Grand Blanc Township Police Department's Facebook page:

The Grand Blanc Township Police Department is asking residents to avoid an area due to a barricaded woman.

They are asking residents to steer clear of the area of Dort Highway and Sloan Heights in Grand Blanc Township.

Police said it is due to an ongoing investigation involving a barricaded woman. She has barricaded herself inside her home, police said.

Several police agencies with armored vehicles are at the scene.

TV5 has a crew at the scene and will update as more information is available.
