After a summer that saw plenty of heat, which resulted in the third warmest summer on record in the Flint area, we saw plenty of warmth through the fall season. With the meteorological version of fall now wrapped up, we can now take a look at the final numbers.

Let's start with November and then piece together what that meant for the fall season of 2016.

November Notes

Similar to September and October, November checked in with a top 20 warmest month ranking in Saginaw and Flint. Houghton Lake only made the list for the month of September, but has once again achieved an all-time ranking for the month of November.

Here's a look at the final numbers for temperature:

  • Saginaw (4th warmest)
    • Average Temp: 45.4°
  • Flint (5th warmest)
    • Average Temp: 44.6°
  • Houghton Lake (4th warmest)
    • Average Temp: 41.3°

Precipitation wise, there weren't any monthly rankings for significance, but all three locations checked in with below average precipitation numbers for the month of November.

Fall Season 2016

With three straight months of top 20 rankings, it's no big secret that Saginaw and Flint both came in with an all-time ranking for the whole season. Even without an October that made one of the all-time lists, Houghton Lake joined the other two.

All three locations checked in with a spot in the top 5 for the warmest falls on record.

  • Saginaw (3rd warmest)
    • Average Temp: 55°
  • Flint (4th warmest)
    • Average Temp: 54.2°
  • Houghton Lake (3rd warmest)
    • Average Temp: 51.2°

Precipitation was a mixed bag. Both Houghton Lake and Saginaw checked in with below average values, while Flint checked in above average for the season. Like the month of November, neither of the three cities made an all-time list.
