AAA said one in five deadly crashes is linked to falling asleep at the wheel, and even missing a little sleep can drivers at risk of nodding off.

The new report shows drivers who get less than six hours of sleep a night nearly double their risk for a crash.

"If we've earned only four to five hours of sleep in a night are the same as driving legally drunk due to alcohol,” Jake Nelson, AAA director of Traffic Safety Advocacy & Research said.

AAA said nearly one in three Americans admit to driving when they had a hard time keeping their eyes open.

Experts said taking naps every two hours can help reduce your risk of becoming drowsy behind the wheel.
