MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. (WNEM) -

The preliminary hearing for the man accused of kidnapping and killing a 25-year-old woman is underway.

Jeffery Willis appeared in court Tuesday. He's accused of abducting Jessica Heeringa from a gas station back in 2013.

Witnesses said they saw Willis on the night Heeringa went missing.

"The news had come out about a girl - attempted kidnapping or whatever - and they showed him and I jumped up and told my sister 'that's the one that was at the gas station where Jessica disappeared,'" a witness testified.

Willis was arrested this spring after he abducted a teenage girl who managed to escape.
