LANSING, MI (WNEM) -

For the third year in a row, the Satanic Temple of Detroit will put up a holiday display at the Capitol in Lansing.

The Snaketivity scene will sit next to a Nativity display at the Michigan State Capitol.

“The overriding message in our holiday display, and many of The Satanic Temple’s public activities, is one of plurality and religious liberty. We have no interest in proselytizing Satanism to the public,” the group wrote on Facebook. “However, we refuse to allow one religious perspective do dominate the discourse.”

The Michigan State Capitol Commission is in charge of regulating the Capitol and the surrounding grounds. They are in charge of approving displays as long as they meet certain guidelines.

Displays have to be taken down every night and put back up in the morning.

The Snaketivity display will be set up from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day beginning Dec. 15 through Dec. 18.
