FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Local residents plan to continue protests over a controversial oil pipeline even though it hit a major roadblock.

Folks will gather Friday in downtown Flint for the demonstration. They'll protest the Dakota Access Pipeline, which was supposed to be built under a lake near a Native American reservation.

Last week, though, the Army Corps of Engineers denied the permit.

Today's protest happens from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Organizers said they hope to shine light on what's going on in North Dakota and on the Flint water crisis.
