BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A restaurant owner reached out to local law enforcement to say thanks for all of their hard work.

"We have a lot of respect for what they do in the communities. You know, they put their lives on the line every day that they go to work," said Larry Peters, owner of several McDonald's restaurants in Mid-Michigan.

Peters is using those restaurants to show his appreciation for the men and women in law enforcement who serve the community. He said police officers will receive free meals at all of the Bay City and Freeland locations.

"This is something we did years back in the 80s. And for some reason we moved away from it, but in the last year or so - with everything going on - we thought it was real important to show our support for our local officers," Peters said.

Peters said he plans to offer those free meals to the men and women behind the badge indefinitely. He said it's the least he can do for the people who do so much for the community.

"We're just honored to do something small to be able to help them out in any way," Peters said.
