Woman receives vehicle after reaching out to Rescue Squad

A woman got a tough break and lost her vehicle because of another driver.

She said without a vehicle it has been hard to get by.

"It's just the scariest thing I've ever been through," said Kristie Lopez.

She survived an accident in Saginaw County when a teenage driver slammed into her driver's side door.

Lopez said the collision was so bad it totaled her vehicle and she had to be cut out.

"The car rolled and when the car rolled, my seat belt actually dislodged and so then I hit the windshield," Lopez said.

She is suffering injuries to her thigh and shoulder, on top of symptoms from her autoimmune diseases. She said it is making what she describes as a trying time even harder for her and her two children.

Lopez said she lost her one and only form of transportation. With the holidays right around the corner it could not have come at a worse time.

"Everything was for Christmas and I just, being on a fixed income it's very hard to just go right back out there and get a vehicle. I don't have money like that and I had to save for the car that I had," Lopez said.

People at the Saginaw Valley Ford car dealership saw Lopez's story on TV5 and wanted to help out by giving her a car.

"I feel very blessed. I can't even explain how I felt when Pedro called me. I think I cried. I'm just very emotional right now," Lopez said.

Pedro Moncada is a salesman at the car dealership.

"As soon as I saw it I instantly went to my higher ups in management and said, 'Guys, we have to help her out. This has to be done,'" Moncada said.

He said he is just happy he could make a difference in someone's life.

"It's just one more thing we can do to help the community that helps us every single day," Moncada said.
