SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Postal workers are braving the deep freeze to make sure residents' mail arrives on time.

"Well, it's never fun knowing it's going to be cold," said Brian Rehmann, postal worker.

He has spent 12 years delivering mail.

"Put a lot of layers on, wear the proper clothes. The stuff the post office gives us is really nice. It is very warm. Under Armour is nice, get that good base layer," Rehmann said.

While dressing for below zero wind chills is a good start, Rehmann said you can't slow down and let the elements get to you.

"Keep moving, the minute you stop you start to get cold, but keep going, keep moving," he said.

Recipients of the mail said they're glad to seek people like Rehmann out braving the cold to get them the information they need.

"It's good that he comes out here an delivers the mail because if he didn't do it we won't get it. And then we'll be looking crazy, Consumers would be cut off, water would be cut off," said Kesha Johnson, resident.

Johnson said Rehmann has been her mail carrier for years. She said she's grateful for all the men and women of the U.S. Postal Service for the job they perform, regardless of the weather.

As for Rehmann, he said it's just another gratifying day at work.

"Everybody is looking for their Christmas cards, for their packages, and it's our job to do it and it feels good.
