The country is gearing up for what could be the busiest holiday travel season in years.

Sarah Bartmess said planning a December flight to her parents' home in Flushing from North Carolina was a roll of the dice. She landed at Bishop International Airport on Thursday with 3-year-old Teagan and 9-month-old Kayleigh in tow.

She said it's a Christmas miracle she avoided severe weather.

"When you're a mom, you have everything planned out accordingly. So any delay can make a stumble, but we made it. We did good," Bartmess said.

She is one of millions expected to travel over the next few weeks.

"It is going to be packed from the middle of this week until a week after the new year," said Pat Corfman, spokesperson for Bishop.

She said weather doesn't typically slow down flights in Flint, but it's the places the planes are heading that can put a snag in travel plans.

"Let's just all keep our fingers crossed that Mother Nature is our friend and that things go well," Corfman said.
