Gov. Rick Snyder announced Donald Trump has won all 16 electoral votes in the state of Michigan.

It took less than 30 minutes for Michigan's electors to vote for Donald Trump.

While the electoral college is often a formality, this year it has taken on more attention thanks to the contentious nature of the campaign season and Trump himself.

Despite the extra attention, it does not appear there will be any surprises in the President-elect's path to the White House. Projections show Trump will easily get the 270 electoral votes required to win the presidency.

"When I ran for position of elector I had a palm card that I handed out that said I would be a faithful elector," Wyckham Seelig said.

Seelig casted his vote as a Michigan elector for Trump and vice president-elect Mike Pence on Monday.

"I'm very, very happy," Seelig said.

Seelig said he was happy because all of the presidential electors who cast their votes on Monday followed suit and voted for their Republican candidates. Trump and Pence both received 16 votes.

There were people who were not so pleased with the results. They pleaded with voters to change their minds.

"Vote their conscience, instead of just the way their party wants them to vote. To actually look at the man who will be coming in as president of the United States," said Eric Zay, protester.

The hundreds of protesters did not make a dent in the election. Even Lt. Gov. Brian Calley was there to show his support for the president-elect.

"He won this election and compared to the other as I mentioned before, I did vote for him compared to the other option. It wasn't close in that sense, but since that election I believe Donald Trump has taken so many steps to bring people together," Calley said.
