MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -

As millions of Americans get ready to hit the road for the holidays, many of us are being forced to dig a little deeper in our pockets to shell out for gas.

Gas prices have seen their largest December rise in six years and gas price monitoring website GasBuddy.com anticipates prices are only headed up as the season continues.

It lays blame with oil producing countries, who've agreed to cut production - boosting oil and gasoline prices.

Across the state, prices are about 19-cents more per gallon than they were this time last year.

Across Mid-Michigan, you'll find the lowest average price in the Midland area. While drivers in Bay County are paying the most at about $2.30 a gallon.

Though, some stations in every county are reported charging as much as $2.45 a gallon.
