BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Authorities say a man found dead in his Bay City home died from terminal illness.

Officers were called on Monday, June 26 at about 4:08 p.m. to a home in the 200 block of Lafayette. The caller told dispatch a man was found possibly dead with blood all over the apartment.

When officers arrived they found a 54-year-old man dead inside the home. There was also a large amount of blood as reported.

The incident was treated as a crime scene as detectives and technicians responded. A search warrant was also obtained and evidence was collected from the home.

Officials said an autopsy performed Thursday morning found the man died as a result of a terminal illness. Police also said they found no evidence of foul play at the man's home.

Investigators said the man lived alone and had a long history of medical conditions.
