MICHIGAN, (WNEM) -

Heads up, campers! Starting this week, you will be charged a fee for canceling reservations at state parks.

The Department of Natural Resources announced it will tack on a $10 charge, plus a fee depending how long the reservation was held, under a new campsite reservation policy. That fee will range from 10 to 40 percent.

Campers will not be charged for adding additional nights on to your stay, only for canceling them, the DNR said.

Campsites can still be reserved up to six months in advance.

The new policy goes into effect on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
