Several states across the country are tightening the leash on “fake” service dogs.

USA Today reports 19 states have enacted misdemeanor laws cracking down people trying to pass off their pets as service animals.

Lawmakers say pet owners can go online and buy a vest for a dog to gain access to restaurants, hotels and businesses. They then misbehave, because they aren't trained.

Many of the new laws would make it a misdemeanor to represent an untrained dog as a service animal.

Michigan has a service animal registry, but it is voluntary.

Do you think there should be laws cracking down on people trying to pass off pets as service animals? Or do you think making it a misdemeanor is going a little too far?
