A 14-year-old student told deputies it was a joke when he claimed he placed a bomb in Farwell High School.

On Nov. 13 at around 6 p.m., Clare County Central Dispatch got a call about a bomb being placed in a classroom at Farwell High School.

The threat indicated the bomb was due to detonate at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 14.

The building was evacuated, and sheriff’s deputies and a K-9 unit searched the building.

Nothing was found, but deputies said the investigation lead to a 14-year-old male student who claimed he made the statement and sent a picture of an explosive to another student as a joke.

A report is being sent to the Clare County Prosecutor’s Office for review of potential charges.
