Authorities are investigating after a young man was hit and killed in Gratiot County.

It happened about 8:15 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20 on N. McClelland Road near Adams Road in Wheeler Township.

Investigators said 19-year-old Keaton Cooley of Breckenridge was driving a motorized bicycle southbound when he was hit from behind by a southbound car.

Cooley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, 65-year-old Sharon Schall of Breckenridge, was taken to Mid Michigan Medical Center Gratiot with minor injuries.

An initial investigation found Cooley was wearing dark clothing and had no lights on the motorized bicycle when he was hit. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
