A light, wintry mix is leading to slick spots through Mid-Michigan.

The National Weather Service has issued special weather statements for Midland County, Sanilac County, Tuscola County, Bay County, Saginaw County and Huron County from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The NWS said a very light wintry mix of snow and freezing rain will lift across the Tri-Cities and northern thumb region this morning.

While the intensity and duration of this precipitation will remain low enough to limit the degree of icing, there will be the potential for some slick spots to develop as temperatures remain just below freezing.

Drivers are urged to use caution and account for possible variable driving conditions by allowing extra time during their morning commute.

In Saginaw County, central dispatch is warning drivers of icy roadways on north and southbound I-675.

The NWS is also warning about dense fog impacting some areas near and south of M-55, including Cadillac, Houghton Lake, and West Branch. The fog will thin out by late morning.
