Toddler killed in house fire; 3 others hurt

SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Authorities are investigating the cause of a house fire that claimed the life of a toddler and injured three others.

It happened about 1:10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18 in the 300 block of W. Snover Road in Sanilac County. 

Sgt. Mike Moore said when deputies arrived, they found a car in the driveway and a house full engulfed.

Three members of the family, the 29-year-old father, 25-year-old mother and 1-year-old child, were able to make it out of the home safely and alert neighbors of the fire.

The family told police a 3-year-old child was still inside the home. Firefighters found the boy on the floor in the southwest bedroom of the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The father and one-year-old boy were taken to Flint Hurley for treatment of their injuries. The mother was taken to McKenzie Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The names of the family members have not been released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
