A Michigan woman was airlifted with serious injuries after a crash in Sanilac County.

It happened about 7:38 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 on Elmer Road, north of French Line Road in Elmer Township.

Investigators said a 47-year-old Sandusky woman was traveling southbound on Elmer Road when she lost control of her vehicle and entered the west side ditch, causing the vehicle to flip several times before coming to rest on its roof.

The person who called 911 told police it appeared the woman had been thrown from the vehicle.

She was taken to McKenzie Hospital in Sandusky and later airlifted to Hurley Medical Center in Flint for treatment of serious injuries.

Officials said the woman was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

The crash is still under investigation.
