Jenkins, Everett, Giroux, Grondin ranked on NHL Central Scouting midterm list

SAGINAW, Michigan - On Monday, the NHL Central Scouting Bureau released its 2018 midterm rankings heading into the 56th NHL Entry Draft held from June 22-23, 2018, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

The Spirit boasts four North American skaters ranked headed into this year’s NHL Draft, including Michigan natives Blade Jenkins (24th) and Caleb Everett (86th). Sudbury, Ontario’s Damien Giroux checks in at 177th and Hearst, Ontario’s Max Grondin is ranked 211th.

Saginaw Spirit second round pick in 2016, Bode Wilde, is ranked 22nd among North American Skaters.

Jenkins, 17, has seen vast improvement in his game during the 2017-18 season. After scoring just eight points last season year with the U.S. National Under-17 team, Jenkins already has 30 points in 44 games in his first OHL season, ranking him fourth in rookie scoring (retroactive – 1/22/18). The Saginaw Spirit made Jenkins their first round pick, fourth overall, in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection Draft. Jenkins forwent NCAA options to sign with the Spirit in the summer of 2017.

Everett, 18, suffered a minor setback early in the season when the defenseman hurt his shoulder opening night in Windsor. Still in just 34 games this season, the National Champion at Detroit Compuware has 17 points, ranking his second in the OHL for points amongst rookie defenseman.

Giroux, 17, his already set career paces in goals, assists, and points during the 2017-18 season. His 32 points ranks him fourth on the Spirit in scoring (retroactive – 1/22/18). Heading into his OHL Draft season, Giroux was voted the Northern Ontario Hockey Association’s Player of the Year.

Grondin, 17, like Giroux, is in his sophomore season in the OHL and has already set career marks in goals, assists, and points. The 6’3, 205-pound Center has seven goals and 10 assists in 42 games this season. Grondin impressed on the northern Ontario trip in front of family and friends, scoring two goals and adding an assist.
