Not even a week before they were supposed to welcome a new baby, a fire destroyed everything they owned.

The family of four, and soon to be five, and one other family are now without a home.

Fire lit up the night sky on the south end of Bay City about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The tenants believe it was an electrical fire that broke out in the attic.

"I lost my mind. I got my kids out as soon as I could," said Nicole Kielpinski, tenant.

She and her family were at the house Thursday morning trying to find anything salvageable.

Everyone made it safely out of the home after the fire broke out.

Kielpinski is expected to have a baby next week.

She lived in the top unit of the house with her boyfriend and her two children. Her aunt, Tamara Kielpinski, lived on the first flood with her 36-year-old son.

"We were all sitting in the living room just sitting there watching TV, when all of a sudden my two bedrooms went off. No light, no everything went off and went to check the breakers to turn it on and that's when it started. Fire, smoke," the aunt said.

Both families who lived in the house said they lost everything and they sure could use some donations.

Fire investigators were at the scene on Thursday.

Bay City Fire Chief Kerry Prieur said the homeowner told him the house had been remodeled about a year ago and that will be part of the investigation.

There are multiple GoFundMe pages set up if you would like to help.

A cause is still unclear.
