SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Prosecutors said he moved out of a house and left his dog behind. Now he’s been found guilty of a charge of animal cruelty-death to one animal.

The case stems back to Feb. 2017 when Saginaw County Animal Control Director Lisa Stoffel said her agency got a call about a dog dead in a home in the 800 block of Sherman Road in Saginaw County’s Carrollton Township.

A maintenance person found the dog, a 1-year-old Rottweiler, dead in a bathroom. It had died of starvation, according to the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office.

Stoffel said Ishmael T. Rembert moved out of the home in Dec. 2016.

Rembert could face up to one year and/or a $2,000 fine
