GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A new report gives a Mid-Michigan county a failing grade for air quality.

The American Lung Association released Wednesday its "State of the Air 2018" air quality report card. Researchers found more than four in 10 Americans live in counties with unhealthy levels of ozone or particle pollution.

The study suggests air quality in Genesee County has gotten worse, receiving an “F” ozone grade. Other Mid-Michigan counties that participated in the study included Huron County, which received a “D” grade, and Tuscola County, which received a “C” grade.

The association said older adults, children, those with asthma, COPD and lung cancer are at greater risk for health effects from air pollution.
