BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Students across the nation, and here in Mid-Michigan, walked out of their classrooms today to fight for tougher gun laws.

Some students, with signs-in-hand, marched around the City Hall in Bay City.

Students also walked out of class at Flint Southwestern Academy, and in Grand Blanc.

The protests come on National School Walkout day, which is also the 19th anniversary of the shootings at Columbine High School.  Thirteen people died in that shooting in Littleton, Colorado.

Walkouts happened at 10 a.m. around the country. For a look at walkouts across the country, click here.
