MACKINAW CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) was deployed to get a better assessment of the damage done on the utility cables in Straits on the Mackinac Bridge

The Unified Command announced the American Transmission Company used the ROV on Sunday, April 22.

The ROV captured underwater images of the cables so that Unified Command can determine how to handle the damaged cables.

The American Transmission Company extracts mineral oil from two damaged cables in the Straits, which is overseen by Unified Command.
