Armed robber identified, charged after trying to steal bank deposits from pizza shop

FARWELL, MI (WNEM) -

An armed robber was caught by police after trying to steal bank deposits from a local restaurant.

The incident happened Saturday night Buccilli's restaurant in Farwell.  

A man wearing a ski mask demanded the staff hand over money at gunpoint. He ran away after getting the cash.

Clare City Police and Clare County Sheriff's deputies searched the area with a K-9 unit. The team eventually found the suspect hiding in bushes behind Farewell Elementary School.

The sheriff's office said the nightly bank deposits totaled $1,431.17 and the firearm used by the suspect was recovered during the search.

He's been identified as Adam Pitt, a 31-year-old male from Farewell.

Pitt was lodged in the Clare County Jail.

On Monday, April 23, the Clare County Prosecutor's Office charged him with armed robbery, weapons felony firearm, as well as assaulting, resisting, and obstructing police.

Pitt's bond is set at $800,000 in cash and remains in Clare County Jail.
