MUNDY TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Authorities have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a California man found dead in a Mid-Michigan field.

Police were called about 11 a.m. April 21 to the 9300 block of S. Jennings Road in Mundy Township for reports of a man in a field who appeared to be dead.

Officers found the man, 20-year-old Austin Michael Culkins, laying on the ground next to an older model GMC pickup in a farm field at the northwest corner of S. Jennings and Baldwin Roads.

Culkins was pronounced dead. A medical examiner later determined he died of multiple stab wounds.

Police said Culkins was previously from California, however, had been living in the Owosso area for the past couple months.

Prosecutors have now charged 28-year-old Frederick Daniel Clark, 23-year-old Christian Lee Lover, and 23-year-old Mataya Delores Shaw with first degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder.

Officials said evidence led investigators to the three, who were known associates of Culkins living in the Owosso area.

All three have been booked in the Genesee County Jail.

A GoFundMe page is raising money to help Culkins' family pay for funeral expenses.
