DETROIT (AP) -

A 16-year-old Detroit youth has pleaded no contest to charges in connection with a shooting during a holiday celebration last December.

The teen entered the plea Wednesday to two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and a felony firearm charge.  The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says he was "adult designated," which means he can receive a juvenile sentence, an adult sentence or a blending of both. Sentencing is scheduled for May 25.

He was arrested after four teens -- ages 19, 17, 16 and 14 -- were wounded Dec. 2 during midtown Detroit's annual Noel Night celebration. Police Chief James Craig has said the outdoor shooting was related to an argument about high school football.

The youth originally was charged with four counts of assault.
