Michigan State Police Museum and Learning Center officially opens

DIMONDALE, Mich. (WNEM) -

The Michigan State Police Museum and Learning Center opened to the public today.  

Located at MSP Headquarters at 7150 Harris Drive in Dimondale, the museum features exhibits that document 100 years of MSP history.

The department got its start in 1917 as a temporary war-time emergency police force, but following World War I it was made a permanent peacetime force.

Colonel Kristy Kibbe Etue spoke at a ribbon cutting ceremony officially open the museum to the public. Vehicles, uniforms and other memorabilia from throughout the past century are on display.  

Walk-in visitors as well as group tours are welcome to visit the museum every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission is free.
