GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A planned electric interruption put hundreds of people in the dark Thursday night.

The interruption started at 10 p.m. and was supposed to last 10 to 15 minutes, but lasted an hour.

It impacted nearly 1,200 customers in portions of Grand Blanc, Holly and Groveland Townships.

Consumers Energy said the outage is necessary to allow utility crews to safely perform work on equipment at its Newark substation, and a related electric circuit.

The approximate locations of the outage include customers in an area bordered by Baldwin Road to the north, Fish Lake Road to the west, Tripp Road to the south, and Horton Road to the east.
