CLARE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A stretch of road in Clare County will honor a man who gave his life fighting for our country.

Robert Friese was killed in 2011 when his unit was attacked in Iraq. He graduated from Harrison High School in 2007 before joining the Army.

Now, Business Route 127 in Clare County will be known as the Robert Friese Memorial Highway.

Governor Rick Snyder signed the legislation making it official Thursday.

There is also a memorial run this weekend in Harrison in Friese’s memory.
