SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Prosecutors will take testimony from the elderly victim of a vicious beating during a home invasion.

The victim has been contacted to appear in court at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 8.

The three suspects involved have been arrested and charged in the assault.

The suspects are 21-year-old Derrick Bowman, 17-year-old Aqua Collins, and 16-year-old Cavareon Haywood. They were arraigned Monday, May 21 on charges including two counts of home invasion in the first degree, two counts of conspiracy, and three counts with assault with intent to murder.

All three are being tried as adults.

Saginaw police officers were called about 2 a.m. Monday, April 30 to the 1400 block of Acacia for a home invasion in progress.

When officers arrived at the burglarized home, they learned a 93-year-old woman was assaulted. The woman was taken to a hospital with severe injuries to her face. She is now home and recovering.

"Something like that where it's a 93-year-old elderly woman, it pulls at your heart strings," Gerow said.

Gerow also said an 88-year-old man who lives in the same neighborhood as the woman called 911 on Sunday night reporting someone knocked on his door.

"This was a very heinous crime. I'm glad it came to a good conclusion with the arrests, but the biggest factor is the individuals who committed these crimes will be held accountable for their actions," Saginaw Police Chief Robert Ruth said.

Police said the community came forward with information that helped police develop their case, and that they are still working to determine if there are other suspects out there.
