Body of missing man recovered from Saginaw River

BAY COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The body of a Mid-Michigan man who failed to return from a canoe trip has been found.

Bay County Sheriff Troy Cunningham said Ricky Giddings’ body was recovered from the Saginaw River on Tuesday, May 1.  

The 60-year-old Tuscola County man was last seen on March 1. His vehicle was discovered later that day in Smith Park in Essexville.

His canoe was located at around 4 p.m. on March 2 near the DNR Boat Launch in Bangor Township, near the mouth of the river.

An active search for Giddings by the U.S. Coast Guard and Essexville Police was called off on March 7.
