FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

One person is in custody after a man was found dead inside a Flint home.

Michigan State Police Lt. Dave Kaiser said the Flint Police Department responded to a medical emergency call just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday at a home on the 2000 block of Bagley Street.

When officers arrived they found a 42-year-old man dead inside the home. Officials said he was beaten to death.

"Essentially, this one that happened this morning was a beating," MSP Sgt. Duane Zook said.

A 28-year-old man is in custody in connection with the death, police said.

Kaiser said the two men were roommates and had a verbal altercation that turned violent.

"As of right now, we're not aware of or at least I'm not aware of any weapons as far as what was used or if anything was used at all," Zook said.

Zook said the suspect's mother was the one who turned him in.

"911 received a call from a woman who said her son had gotten into an argument with his roommate and that roommate was no longer conscious," Zook said.

Police are not releasing the victim's name yet.
