SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Upgrades are coming to part of Dixie Highway.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has awarded a $2 million grant to the Saginaw County Road Commission to improve Dixie Highway in Bridgeport Township.

The project will reconstruct and expand 1.2 miles of Dixie Highway in Bridgeport Township between two major roads.

According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 54 new jobs and generate $6.5 million in private investment.

“Local, state and federal resources are all needed to modernize our infrastructure and keep our economy on a solid path for the future,” said Governor Rick Snyder. “I appreciate this investment from our federal partners to help make this roadway more efficient for residents, visitors and the flow of commerce.”
