Woman killed, 2 others hurt in crash on M-61

ARENAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Mid-Michigan woman and left two others with life-threatening injuries. 

It happened about 2:24 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 on M-61 near I-75 southbound in Lincoln Township.

Undersherif Don McIntyre with the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department said a car was traveling eastbound on M-61 when it was hit by another car traveling westbound.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, 44-year-old Corrine Peterson of Standish, was taken to Standish Community Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Peterson’s passenger, a 47-year-old woman, and the driver of the westbound vehicle, a 68-year-old man from West Branch, were also taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
