Strong overnight storms cause power outages in Mid-Michigan

MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -

Strong storms overnight left hundreds without power across Mid-Michigan.

A line of strong thunderstorms marched east during the first half of the overnight period, packing torrential rain and frequent lightning. The storms also had a history of producing dime-sized hail and winds gusts over 30 mph.

Consumers Energy reported nearly 700 customers without power Thursday morning. Crews have been assigned to the areas, but no official cause has been listed. These are the outages remaining as of 9:30 a.m. 

  • Genesee County – 193
  • Gladwin County – 334
  • Arenac County – 31
  • Ogemaw County – 64
  • Oscoda County – 15

An outage in Midland County left about 1,800 customers without power Wednesday night. The outages spanned from S. Schreider Road east to S. Flajole Road and E. Vernon Court north to US-10 Business route. Power was restored by 11:30 p.m.
