DEARBORN, MI (WNEM) -

A rolling gun battle sent a Michigan hospital into lockdown.

Our affiliates at WDIV in Detroit report police believe a deadly shooting Wednesday night outside Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn stemmed from a fight between two men over an ex-girlfriend.

Investigators said the woman’s ex-boyfriend starting firing at the new boyfriend. The new boyfriend was wounded, and started driving toward the hospital with the old boyfriend still following.

They arrived at the campus around the same time, police said.

WDIV reports the new boyfriend ran inside the hospital to get help. The other man shot and killed himself in the parking lot.

The gun battle never entered the hospital, police said.

The hospital was put in lockdown as a precaution while police investigated.

The names of the two men have not been released.
