GLADWIN COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

An empty boat in a Gladwin County lake led to the discovery of a man’s body.

The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office was called to Lake Lancer in Butman Township on May 9 at around 3 p.m. after a caller found a 14-foot aluminum boat adrift in the middle of the lake.

At around 4 p.m. deputies found a pickup at the boat ramp off of Dutcher Road. The truck was running and it was backed down the ramp with a boat trailer attached, and no sign of the driver.

Two hours later the body of 65-year-old Roy Bruner was recovered from the water.

Investigators believe the Roy was out fishing and was getting ready to leave when he fell into the water.

At this point, investigators don’t know if the Gladwin resident died from an accident or had a medical event and fell into the water.

An autopsy is underway.
