DASH CAM VIDEO: Wild chase ends at Michigan hospital

A police pursuit in Michigan ended Wednesday night with a suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Part of the chase was caught on dash cam video.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a fight between two men over an ex-girlfriend.

The frantic dash cam video shows a Dearborn police officer looking to end a violent chase between the silver Chrysler 300 and the Ford F-150 -- slamming his cruiser into the back of the sedan.

The police SUV spins to the sidewalk, then rejoins the chase going into the entrance of the hospital.

There, the whisks of smoke from gunfire erupted and the officer slammed again into the Chrysler.

The driver of the Chrysler stopped the car in the parking lot of Beaumont Hospital. Police said he shot and killed himself while sitting behind the wheel.

It all started on Karen Court in Melvindale, where a neighbor with two small children said she heard shouting and then saw the woman involved in this lover's triangle trying to stop the violence.

"I seen the girl grab the guy in the 300 car and she got pushed for him. That's when the gun out and he shot the guy in the black truck about five or six times,” the neighbor said.

They sped off down the street. The driver of the black truck called 911.

Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad called the driver of the Chrysler “decedent.”

"The decedent was armed with a AR-15. He was also armed with a handgun. It was discovered this morning that there was also a third gun tucked in the car,” Haddad said.

Haddad said the situation could have been far worse.

There was no shooting inside Beaumont Hospital, but a brief lockdown was put in place there as a safety precaution.
