MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

Two youth baseball teams and a recreational park project have received grants thanks to the Michigan Baseball Foundation.

“Giving back to our local youth has been something we have taken pride in since MBF started awarding grants,” said MBF interim president David Ramaker.

This year Clare Parks and Recreation received $2,462 for improving the Clare Skate and Bike Pad Project. The trail will ultimately become part of the 67-mile long Mid-Michigan Community Pathway Project.

The Sanford Youth Little League received a $5,600 grant to replace supplies and equipment for baseball and softball teams.

The Bay City Western baseball program received $6,000 to help fund the baseball stadium seating project.

The foundation started the grant process in April 2017. These organizations were chosen because they contribute to the regional economic development, are based in Mid-Michigan, serve young people, and promote amateur sports and fitness.

Last month the Michigan Baseball Foundation donated 28 grants, totaling out to $109,866, to eight counties in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

The MBF has awarded 311 grants totaling $1,132,627 to non-profit organizations in 14 counties in the Great Lakes Bay Region for the past 10 years.
