Homes evacuated after gas main ruptures in Grand Blanc Township

GRAND BLAC TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

A handful of homes were evacuated as a precaution after a gas main ruptured Friday night.

It happened about 8:30 p.m. on Pepperwood Drive in Grand Blanc Township, according to the fire chief.

Consumers Energy responded to the scene.

Roger Morganstern, with Consumers Energy, said a 2-inch gas line was struck and ignited.

Consumers was able to shut off gas to the line about 10 p.m. and the fire is out.

No injuries have been reported.
